EMERGENCY CLOSURE/SEVERE RESTRICTION OF ALL ASSISTED PASSAGE (MANNED) LOCKS
UPDATED VERSION – Alignment with EA notice.
In line with the actions being taken by the Environment Agency and following the Prime Ministers announcement on 23 March 2020 about the UK’s heightened response to the Coronavirus emergency, we have taken the difficult decision to introduce limits to the use of our waterways to protect our staff, customers and stop all non-essential travel.
From 4pm on Friday 27th March 2020 the following lock sites where we provide assisted passage have been closed and will remain closed (excepting only for absolutely essential passage), until further notice.
• Salters Lode
• Stanground
We will keep these restrictions under constant review in the light of the developing situation and advice from Government, but we expect them to be in place until at least 14th April 2020. For further information please contact the Middle Level Commissioners via e-mail; [email protected] in the first instance. If do believe you need to arrange passage through one of these locks for essential reasons please call the main office number to discuss this.
