Over 1,000 people tried canal boating on Drifters national open day

On Sunday 23 April 2023, over 1,000 people tried canal boating for free at one of 16 Drifters open day events across England and Wales.

Haley Hadley, of Drifters Waterway Holidays, says:

“We were delighted to welcome over 1,000 people to our canal boat holiday taster sessions, which included free short trips on skippered narrowboats, and the opportunity to look round holiday-hire boats at many of the events.

“It’s absolutely vital that we attract newcomers to the canals with taster events like these, so that more people discover the joys of a narrowboat holiday and the beauty of our inland waterways.

“There are over 3,000 miles of navigable waterways to enjoy holidaying on in the UK, with hundreds of destinations to choose from.  We hope the people who visited our open day events come back to the canals again soon and we are always happy to see people at our boat yards to chat about boats, routes and holidays.”
